Ingredients

For this delightful dish, you'll need:

  • 500g premium beef sirloin or ribeye

  • ¼ cup soy sauce

  • ¼ cup mirin

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil

  • Toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)

  • Sliced green onions (for garnish)

Preparation Steps

Step 1: Prepare the Teriyaki Sauce

Combine the soy sauce, mirin, and sugar in a small saucepan. Allow it to simmer over medium heat until the sugar is fully dissolved. Set aside and let it cool. This forms your savory-sweet Teriyaki sauce.

Step 2: Searing the Beef

Season your beef slices with a hint of salt and pepper. Heat the oil in a frying pan or griddle over high heat. When hot, add your beef slices, searing them until browned on both sides.

Step 3: Adding the Teriyaki Sauce

Reduce the heat to medium and pour your Teriyaki sauce over the beef. Let it simmer, occasionally turning the slices until the sauce reduces, and the beef is well-coated.

Arrange your succulent beef slices on a plate and drizzle the remaining Teriyaki sauce over it. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions, then serve with steamed rice.

Quick Tips for Cooking

  • For an authentic taste, choose high-quality beef, preferably sirloin or ribeye.

  • Make sure not to overcook the beef. Quick cooking over high heat ensures tender, juicy slices.

  • You can make extra Teriyaki sauce to store in the refrigerator for future use.
